Lake
Compounce Family Theme Park is dedicated to providing rides, attractions
and fun for the whole family, from toddlers to teens to moms and dads; but
there is a special part of the park that has been developed specifically
with their youngest guests in mind. It's Garfield's Circus World and it is
filled with rides and attractions tailor-made for kids.
Garfield's Circus World, inhabited by comic strip icons Garfield and Odie
who made "The Lake" their "cool new hangout" two years
ago, allows youngsters to experience the thrill of big-time amusement park
rides scaled down for their size. Kids have miniature versions of the
Carousel, the Wave Swinger and Musik Express (called Arctic Express in
Garfield's Circus World) as well as their own Kiddie Roller Coaster and a
junior version of the classic Bumper Cars.
Rides that capitalize on the Circus theme include Flying Elephants, the
Big Top Pony Carts, and Drum Circus, a ride in which kids are spun around
a giant clown while seated in brightly colored drums. In addition,
children who like to travel can take a ride on the Little Dare Devil
Motorcycles, go for a spin on the Caterpillar Train, or peddle about on
"Rock 'n Rollers," self-propelled skooters.
Garfield's Circus World also has a stage where interactive shows are
performed several times daily. |
Fun
for "The Lake's" smallest guests is not restricted to Garfield's
Circus World however; there is also a special section in the Splash Harbor
Water Park designed for youngsters. For children less than 54" tall,
the Lighthouse Keeper's Pool has an array of six different slides and play
elements designed especially for young children. Parents are encouraged to
play with their children in this area as well as the "Mini
River" and the "Play Time Fountain."
The Mini River is a
toddler version of the Thunder Rapids White Water Rafting ride. It
provides an opportunity for parents to walk alongside while their
youngsters enjoy the thrill of an inner tube ride down a gently sloping
river.
The Play Time Fountain is a computer-controlled fountain in which children
and adults can play in intermittent dancing sprays and water spouts.
Lake Compounce General Manager Tom Wages said, "We are committed to
making Lake Compounce a family destination. It's important that we provide
something for everyone -- literally; and that includes our youngest
patrons. That's why we're so proud of Garfield's Circus World and the
toddler section of Splash Harbor."
Season Passes are available, providing unlimited
visits to the park for only $62.95. There is also a fee for parking but
'parking books' are available at a discount.
